about
LUI HILL follows his strong releases of ‘Creatures’ and ‘How Many Moons’ from his upcoming EP with his next single, ‘Talk to You.’ With raw grittiness, the energy of a 1 bar drum-loop distorted 808s; the music manages to perfectly represent the restlessness of the lyrics. Melody however ties it all together. ‘Talk to You’ is acknowledging how narcissism and disconnection is amplified through social media, bigotry, racism and the miss-use of power. Even for those of us who feel above or free of these themes- somehow they “talk to” all of us.
lyrics
TALK TO YOU
Girls, money, fame
People shouldn’t forget who I am
As long as I can overturn this car in memory lane
I will accelerate throughout this game
Shine, cover, fake
I learned the march to a narcissist parade
Envy the flawless life of someone while I fade
As I forget why we actually relate
Did it ever talk to
Did it ever talk to you
Did it ever talk to
Did it ever talk to
Did it ever talk to you
Did it ever talk to
Mmmh, mmmh, mmmh, mmh….
Mmmh, mmmh, mmmh, mmh….
Good, better, saint
A belief that there is only one to name
Giving meaning to all the senseless pain
Dancing shadows on a wall in my cave
Quiet, white, safe
Fear is a motor to behave
War lost its horror on the way
With a lie to the powerless and so called brave
Black, yellow, white
We don’t need eyesight to suddenly go blind
Manmade madness is bleeding on young life
With a myth forever to survive
Did it ever talk to
Did it ever talk to you
Did it ever talk to
Did it ever talk to
Did it ever talk to you
Did it ever talk to
Did it ever talk to
Did it ever talk to you
Did it ever talk to
Mmmh, mmmh, mmmh, mmh….
mmmh, mmmh, mmmh, mmh….
